You asked for it, we made it happen: an exclusive ISK to Baja trip

Exclusive event for Inland Sea Kayakers

We have teamed up with Jen Kleck to offer an intimate kayak adventure in the fantastic venue of Baja Mexico. This is a limited  event to allow the best experience for each participant.

Quick access to world class paddling:

Just a few hours drive from San Diego and the border crossing into Mexico is quick access to the off the beaten path town of La Bufadora, where our base of operations for the week will be. utilizing a cottage as the "camp" headquarters, we can launch our kayaks from the back door or do a quick shuttle to more rock gardening or surf.

Rock gardening, surfing, skill development, warm climate and beautiful blue water is on the ticket for this adventure. You can expect loads of good fun and laughter.

Day 1 (Monday, March 18)-

We will meet in San Diego at (to be mentioned later) for the drive down. Lunch or dinner will be along the way.

Days 2-6 (March 19- 23) are paddle days.

Day 7 - (March 24) Pack up and drive home. We generally make it back by 5 or 6pm.

Cost to participants for the full itinerary is $900 and includes bunkhouse, kayak/gear, guiding, meals at the bunkhouse (almost all breakfasts and lunches and a few dinners). We'll eat out a dinner or two and that's on you. It is a best idea to bring your kit and paddle. Boats will be provided.

What Jen Says about this venue:

"Our event is held along a magical stretch of coastline in northern Baja where a rocky peninsula juts into the Pacific. Here, the ocean swell interacts with the rocky, craggy coastline to produce a multitude of play spots for the adventurous kayaker! Two small islands a few miles offshore provide a spectacular destination for intrepid explorers and the wildlife that the cold, clear waters nurture is outstanding."

Jen lives north of the border in San Diego where she has owned and operated sea paddlesports companies for over 20 years. Jen achieved the highest coach ranking within the British Canoe Union in Nov. 2007 when she became the first American Level 5 Sea Kayak Coach. She also holds BCU 5 Star sea, 4 Star surf, and 3 Star open canoe awards. She appears in Cackle TV Productions "This Is The Sea 4" at our festival site. Jen loves to challenge herself with all types of kayaking: she has raced, competed in kayak surfing, run the Grand Canyon, and was a member of the 1999, 2000, and 2003 National Champion women’s kayak polo teams. Jen has enjoyed messing about in small boats since childhood in New Hampshire. She has a BA in geology from Colorado College and enjoys natural history of all sorts.

Jeff, co-owner of Sea Kayak Safety llc, is an American Canoe Association Level 4 Open Water Coastal Kayaking Instructor and a British Canoeing Sea Coach. His love for paddling and teaching others paddling began at age 16, working with legally challenged youth on wilderness.

Michelle, also co-owner of Sea Kayak Safety llc, also began her paddling career in canoes as a youth. She is also an American Canoe Association Level 4 Open Water Coastal Kayaking Instructor and a British Canoeing 4 Star Leader.

Working as a team, Michelle and Jeff have taught/guided together. They are known for their logistics and accommodations, teaching in many types of environments, and leading and guiding others on adventurous trips to Lake Superior, Alaska, Maine, and Tybee and Cumberland Island Georgia. Their familiar understanding of these varied areas allows them to provide you fantastic opportunities to grow your skills and understanding of ocean paddling. Their credentials and experience as instructors and guides, combined with a small, intimate class size, allow for them to tailor this event to your skills and provide more individual attention to you.
