Introduction to Flatwater Kayaking Course June 9 & 10, 2007
ACA-certified Instructor - ISK member Ted Snyder The class was a two-day Introduction to Coastal Kayaking course, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., Sat. and Sun., July 9-10 at Shady Oak Lake in Minnetonka.
The cost was $50.00 for members, $65.00 for nonmembers which is a substantial savings on this basic safety class. We like keeping the price low because we want to make sure that members are prepared to paddle safely.
The class covered basic strokes and boat control, landing and launching, equipment and gear, rescues, safety, navigation & coastal dynamics of wind and waves. This was a safe and fun intro to the sport of coastal kayaking. Participants had fun and offered much positive feedback.
