Hidden Falls, Feb. 21, 2004 ![]() Five ISKers braved wind, weather and currents in a paddle on the Mississippi at Hidden Falls. As we launched, the NWÝwind was 10 mph, the air temperature was 34 degrees F, and the sky was partly cloudy. The river is low this time of year so currents near the island below the Ford Dam were mild to moderate. Bob and Dana practiced seal landing and launching on the ice shelf below Lock One. We all paddled up to the dam and played in the confused waters of the powerhouse tailrace for a while. When we were tired of paddling in the eddys and waves we drifted downstream a ways. To finish off the midday paddle we went down to Pike Island. After a great paddle we went to Cecils for lunch.
